trick or treat....

Happy Halloween.....trick or treat a children's custom of calling at houses at Halloween with the threat of pranks if they are not given a small gift ....
It started in France several years ago ,maybe like 5 years ago...and it's a shame that many don't celebrate it, the kids love it, and sometimes when we knok on the doors many don't have treats.....I guess it's really an American thing....
We try to keep it alive, at least for the kids.....
boo...

We have Emu's in Bazainville....

A couple of weeks ago I posted ''the Llama'' and said I would soon take a picture of the Ostrich, or should I say an Emu...well here they are, again one of the Prince's tresures...
The emu is the largest bird in Australia, and the second largest in the world after the ostrich.
Emus have long necks, sharp beaks and small ears. They have two sets of eyelids, one for blinking and one to keep out the dust. Their feet are long, with three toes. One toe on each foot has a long talon, for fighting.
Emu feathers are soft and light-brown with dark tips. Each feather has a double shaft.
Emus can grow to between 5 to 6.5 feet (1.5 – 2 metres) in height and weigh up to 130 pounds (60 kg). Males are slightly smaller than females. Males make a grunting sound like a pig and females make a loud booming sound.

Thought I'd show you what one of our supermarkets look like...
Monday's everything is closed, and the only supermarket open is Atac in Orgerous a neighboring village...I know it looks nothing like the ''Publixs'' or ''Whole Food Store'' in the US, but it our little version and it's big enough...but I must say I do miss the supermarkets of the US...I love to walk every isle...
have a great week...
